Update 2.56

Visuals

  • Tweaked the environment lighting and post-processing in the scene to make things more dynamic
  • Overhead lights are a lot brighter
  • Computer console visual design has been re-hauled (no longer blue)
  • Console buttons should all be consistent
  • Text on book spine is a lot more clear
  • Placement mode shader no longer blends with the cover and instead swaps back and forth in pulsing action
  • Added better cost information (Customer vs MSRP) to book details
  • End of day screen shows tooltips with any stats that improved it's sell chance
  • End of day screen has a summary section showing each customer, how much they spent and how many books they bought
  • Re-worked decoration instructions to be more clear
  • Added a box shader around a book when the player is looking at it
  • Added "Book Vision" that shows a summary of the kinds of books on shelf
    • shows in a multi-coloured shader
    • overlay text for percentage breakdown shows when close to

Data

  • Data retrieval method has been re-written into a queue (visible on screen when running)
  • Various fixes to bugs around downloading when not needing to
  • Changes to save data format that may be incompatible with previous saves
  • Search screen can now pull detail data while searching
  • Searching now uses paging
  • Created a system to group common genre and properly assign simple genres to books and shelves
  • Many fixes related to loading large sets of books to avoid crash/wait times
  • Saving is manual by user now in pause menu
  • Loading a new game no longer requires any downloading by default
  • Book list included has been cleaned up to only include items with both a cover and details

Book Selling

  • Related to book vision: books are now grouped on shelves and when enough books are of the same genre on the same shelf they have a higher chance of selling
  • Ordering books only provided a random count before (at least 1). This has been removed and all books ordered are provided
  • Book removal code in shipping box has been re-written to be less physics dependant (uses direct collider on end of day)

Physics

  • Physics settings and layers reworked to minimize collisions with books
  • Player collider sizes adjusted
  • Books load in kinematic until all are loaded before enabling physics to avoid books "pushing" each other on load

Other Stuff

  • A lot of testing from scratch and loading existing files to ensure things are constant
  • Some areas that touched cash when playing on "chill" mode have been removed
  • Added sound control options in pause menu
  • Added basic sound FX to interactions (UI, player actions, book collisions)
  • Entire time-of-day tracking mechanic has been re-written
  • Time actually waits on pause (both in game physics and in world time)
